Guided tour of Florence to discover some symbolic places such as Santa Croce and Ponte Vecchio!
Also known as the Pantheon of Italian Glories, Santa Croce holds numerous masterpieces but also tombs of illustrious men. There we will find the tomb of Michelangelo, Galileo, Rossini, Machiavelli and many others, in one of the few Gothic churches in Florence, built in 1294 by the architect Arnolfo di Cambio.
The tour continues in the square in front of the church, where even today the famous Calcio Storico is played. That is a typical Florentine tradition that culminates in the final that takes place every June 24th, the day of Saint John the Baptist, patron of the city. After that we will arrive to Ponte Vecchio, Florence’s first bridge since the time of its foundation in 59 BC. From the bridge it is visible the Vasarian Corridor, built on top of the goldsmith’s shops, which ends in the piazza of Palazzo Pitti, like our tour.
